Everybody knows how difficult is to look for information on
Web. The main problems are how to make request to the search engine and how to process the
numerous information received. Indeed, all search engines inquire various search
parameters and give different search results. Even if you are experienced user and know
how to make right request to your favorite engine, nevertheless you will be still aware
how to perform the result of the search, which can contain thousands of links. You are to
turn over the tens and thousands of Web pages and to waste time, waiting for connection.
Moreover, some links may be broken. And thus with every search engine.
DISCo Finder changes the paradigm of looking for information and performing of
result of search.
DISCo Finder searches the Web and enables a user to submit a search to many search
engines. Moreover, it can start several queries simultaneously and control all searches at
once from main menu (to stop them, for example) and control each one separately by using
the local menu.
The important particularity of DISCo Finder is in the manner of visualization of
results. The information is visualized in the Search Tree and in the Servers
Tree. Every line of the Search Tree and Servers Tree describes one tree
node. The Servers Tree provides the information on servers where the documents
reside. The Search Tree provides the links to documents with necessary information.
The document and server links may be synchronized by right mouse clicking. In the Search
Tree DISCo Finder compares the new documents with the ones found and , if they
coincide, unites them in one folder.
During the search you can request to validate links got from the search engines. In that
case you will see immediately which links lead to wrong or missing documents without
calling them in your browser.
By double clicking or right clicking any document node you can invoke your default
Internet browser to see the document. There is also the possibility to reorganize
bookmarks in the Internet Explorer by importing them into DISCo Finder view,
validate them, reorganizing them and exporting them back to Internet Explorer.
Moreover you can reorganize the search results as you like. Especially useful is the
possibility to "hide" servers or documents, which means that these documents or
servers are of no interest to you and will not be shown. The hidden nodes are nodes that
are in the tree but are not visible. As the result you will see only those links that you
need.
You can reorganize the search tree by creating new categories or pages, by dragging nodes
or subtrees from one place to another. The results can be afterwards saved or exported.
The advantage of node hiding instead of node deleting is that if the DISCo Finder
will get a new reference to the page from a deleted node it will create a new node for
that reference and if the node for this page reference would be hidden this information is
reused instead of creating a new one.
It is possible to renew the information, saved during the last DISCo Finder search.
The new links found will be selected by different color.
